Beach Hut 206

Mersea Island

Essex

Nine miles South-East of Colchester, filled with historic charm, wild scenery and row upon row of pastel-coloured beach huts, you'll find Mersea Island, a beautiful haven considered by many to be one of Essex's best kept secrets...

I love Mersea Island; the sand and shingle shoreline, the peaceful atmosphere, the wildness, the sunsets! I even love how high tide covers the strood, the only road on and off the island, twice a day. Something that could easily be considered an inconvenience, I think is wonderful. Nature making us wait; forcing us to slow down, to stop. This, to me, is a thing of beauty and I am so happy to be able to offer workshops here this summer season.

With Cool Coastal Huts' new stunning Mersea Beach Hut 206 as our base, I will guide you in creating your own individual, striking mono-prints using the surrounding seaside as inspiration. Please note that no art experience is necessary, as this workshop is about connecting with nature and yourself through creativity and the truly fun medium of print. It is completely beginner friendly. We'll be working with non~toxic, animal~friendly vegetable oil-based inks and by the end of the afternoon, you will have multiple prints from seaweed, feathers and other treasures you may find on the sand and amongst the pebbles, thus giving you the chance to take a little bit of this beautiful Essex seaside home.

All art materials and a freshly brewed selection of teas and coffee are included in this workshop.

£30 per person

Please note that I am also running a Seaside Watercolour Workshop in the morning. For more information, click below.

About Cool Coastal Huts

I have returned time and time again to Cool Coastal Huts Mersea beach huts since they first opened. From that first day, I was in love. Johanna, who owns CCH, has a clear and pristine sense of style. The huts are crisp, clean, fresh and simply stunning. Every element has been designed; it has a purpose. The huts have everything you need, and not one thing you don't. Practicality meets beauty, enhanced more by the perfectly framed, craggy landscape in which the huts sit. Johanna has owned and loved beach huts for over sixteen years and her mission is simple, to provide what she loves; the coolest, most stylish, luxury beach huts. Personally, I think she has succeeded!
